AT&T Internet Air Review (2026): AT&T's 5G Fallback Where Fiber Doesn't Reach

Verdict: AT&T Internet Air is a no-contract, no-cap 5G home internet option for AT&T addresses without fiber, but a 2025 price increase, a credit-card AutoPay surcharge, slower speeds than Verizon 5G Home and a smaller footprint make it a fallback rather than a first choice in our comparison.

Updated October 30, 2026 · Facts verified October 30, 2026
What we like
  • Good fit: AT&T mobile customers outside the fiber footprint who can take 20% off
  • Good fit: Households on slow legacy connections who want a simple self-install option
Watch out for
  • Not for: Anyone with AT&T Fiber, cable or a stronger fixed wireless option at the address

The short version

AT&T Internet Air is AT&T’s 5G fixed wireless home internet, sold where AT&T Fiber has not been built. An All-Fi Hub gateway connects to AT&T’s wireless network, so nothing is wired in. Advertised speeds are 90 to 300 Mbps download, the price is $60 per month with debit or bank-account AutoPay, and there is no contract, no data cap and no equipment charge.

The reasons to hesitate are specific. The price rose $5 in 2025, credit-card AutoPay adds $5 per month, HighSpeedInternet.com finds it slower with a smaller footprint than Verizon 5G Home, and sign-up depends on local capacity. AT&T’s official Internet Air page could not be fetched, so some details come from third-party sources. Prices verified October 30, 2026; providers change promotions frequently — confirm at checkout.

Plans and pricing (as of October 30, 2026)

Internet Air is a single plan. Figures come from CableTV.com (data effective October 30, 2026) and HSI (February 2026 article), which do not fully agree.

  • The plan: AT&T Internet Air — 90 to 300 Mbps download; upload not stated by CableTV.com, while HSI says “as fast as 30 Mbps.” $60 per month with a $10 AutoPay and Paperless discount paid by debit card or bank account, or $65 with credit-card AutoPay, per CableTV.com. HSI’s February 2026 table lists $55; CableTV.com reports a 2025 rise from $55 to $60, so the lower figure may be outdated.
  • Top tier: None. Internet Air has one speed tier; AT&T’s faster options are its fiber plans, covered in our separate AT&T Internet review.

No promo period or post-promo price is stated, so we could not verify whether $60 is promotional or standard.

Fees and fine print

  • Contract: No contract, per HSI.
  • Early termination fee: None stated; we could not verify.
  • Equipment: Included. The All-Fi Hub gateway comes with the service.
  • Installation: Sources conflict: CableTV.com lists up to $99, while HSI describes a free self-install kit. We could not verify which applies today.
  • Data cap: Unlimited data, per HSI.
  • AutoPay and paperless: The $60 price requires AutoPay and paperless billing; debit or bank-account AutoPay gets the full $10 discount, while credit-card AutoPay costs $5 more per month. Taxes and fees are extra.

Speed and reliability

Fixed wireless performance depends on signal strength, distance from the cell site and how many neighbors share it, hence AT&T’s 90 to 300 Mbps range. HSI’s upload figure of up to 30 Mbps is far below AT&T Fiber’s symmetrical speeds, and HSI rates Internet Air slower than Verizon 5G Home.

Satisfaction data for Internet Air specifically is thin. The 2026 ACSI study scores AT&T’s non-fiber internet at 71, up from 70; that segment is the closest match in the data reviewed but is not labeled Internet Air. J.D. Power’s 2026 AT&T results, including top wired rankings in the North Central and West, cover wired service, and we could not verify an Internet Air-specific result. For context, J.D. Power’s 2026 wireless segment averaged 645 versus 560 for wired, with T-Mobile highest among wireless providers at 659.

Where it’s available

A CNET analysis syndicated on AOL lists AT&T in 21 states with about 49% nationwide coverage, including Internet Air. HSI estimates Internet Air itself reaches roughly 15% of FCC-tracked areas, with sign-up dependent on local capacity, so an AT&T-territory address is not guaranteed approval. HSI also calls the footprint smaller than Verizon 5G Home’s.

Perks right now

What to watch out for

  • A $5 price rise in 2025 ($55 to $60), plus $5 more per month with credit-card AutoPay, per CableTV.com.

Who should choose AT&T Internet Air

  • AT&T mobile customers without fiber at the address who can apply the 20% discount.
  • Households replacing a slow legacy connection who want a self-install gateway with no contract.
  • Anyone who values the AT&T Guarantee’s outage credits on a wireless connection.
  • Not the pick where AT&T Fiber, cable or Verizon 5G Home is available; see the live comparison table on this page.
