The short version
AT&T Fiber is the wired product most people mean by “AT&T Internet.” Plans run from 300 Mbps at $50 per month to 5,000 Mbps at $110, every tier delivers equal upload and download speeds, data is unlimited, and the Wi-Fi gateway and installation cost nothing extra. In the 2026 ACSI study, AT&T Fiber tied for the top fiber score, and J.D. Power’s 2026 study ranked AT&T highest among wired providers in two of its regions.
The catch is reach. AT&T’s fiber network covers 21 states; elsewhere the fallback is AT&T Internet Air, a fixed wireless service reviewed separately on this site. Prices verified October 30, 2026; providers change promotions frequently — confirm at checkout.
Plans and pricing (as of October 30, 2026)
AT&T’s fiber page shows “Now” prices against a higher “Was” price. Figures below are “Now” prices, which include a $10 per month AutoPay and paperless discount and exclude taxes and fees.
- Entry tier: AT&T Internet 300 (Fiber) — 300 Mbps download / 300 Mbps upload, $50 per month (shown as “Now” $50 versus “Was” $60).
- Middle tiers: 500 Mbps for $60 and 1,000 Mbps for $70.
- Top tier: AT&T Internet 5000 (Fiber) — 5,000 Mbps download / 5,000 Mbps upload, $110 per month (“Now” $110 versus “Was” $135). AT&T’s FAQ notes a single wired device tops out around 4.7 Gbps.
AT&T states no promo period or post-promo price, so we could not verify how long the “Now” price lasts. CableTV.com reports AT&T Fiber has no second-year price hikes or promotional pricing, but treat the “Was” gap as a discount AT&T could end rather than a locked rate.
Fees and fine print
- Contract: AT&T’s comparison page groups AT&T under “fastest speed with no contract”; no annual contract is stated for fiber.
- Early termination fee: None stated; we could not verify that one exists.
- Equipment: Wi-Fi gateway included at no extra cost, per the official fiber FAQ.
- Installation: $0 for either self-install or technician install on fiber, per AT&T’s comparison table.
- Data cap: None. AT&T states unlimited data on all fiber plans.
- AutoPay and paperless: The advertised price assumes the $10 per month AutoPay and paperless discount; skip either and expect to pay $10 more. Taxes and fees are extra.
Speed and reliability
AT&T Fiber is fiber-to-the-home, so upload speeds match download speeds. Cable and fixed wireless typically deliver a fraction of download speed on upload; fiber does not, which matters for video calls, large uploads and cloud backups.
The 2026 ACSI Telecommunications Study (released May 19, 2026) scored AT&T Fiber 79, up from 78 and tied for top-ranked fiber ISP; AT&T’s non-fiber internet scored 71, up from 70.
The J.D. Power 2026 U.S. Residential ISP Satisfaction Study (released October 8, 2026) ranked AT&T highest among wired providers in the North Central region (578) and the West (595). In the South, AT&T scored 611, second to GFiber at 707.
Where it’s available
A CNET analysis syndicated on AOL lists AT&T in 21 states with roughly 49% nationwide coverage, but that figure includes Internet Air. The fiber footprint is narrower and availability is address-by-address even inside AT&T states, so run an address check first.
Perks right now
Observed on AT&T’s fiber page and partner sources on October 30, 2026:
- Three months of YouTube TV “on us” with 1 GIG or 5 GIG; online orders only, new YouTube TV customers only, and it renews at the then-current price afterward.
- A $100 reward card with 1 GIG speed or higher; redemption is required.
- The AT&T Guarantee: bill credits for outages and support in five minutes or less, covering fiber and wireless at no extra charge.
- Internet Backup, a cellular failover feature, included at no additional cost for AT&T unlimited wireless customers.
What to watch out for
- The fiber footprint is limited to 21 states, and the promo pricing requires AutoPay plus paperless billing and excludes taxes and fees.
- No promotional term or post-promo price is disclosed, so the duration of the “Now” price is unverified.
- Where fiber is absent, Internet Air rose $5 in 2025 ($55 to $60), costs $5 more per month with credit-card AutoPay per CableTV.com, and is slower with a smaller footprint than Verizon 5G Home per HighSpeedInternet.com.
Who should choose AT&T Internet
- Remote workers and creators who need upload speed equal to download speed.
- Households that want unlimited data and an included gateway without a monthly equipment line item.
- Shoppers in the North Central, West or South who weight satisfaction studies; see the live comparison table on this page.
- Not the pick where only Internet Air qualifies; compare Verizon 5G Home and T-Mobile Home Internet there instead.
